HEALTHCARE 1st Federal Credit Union’s Privacy
Promise for Members
We need our members’ information to provide
superior service. However, our most valued asset is your trust. Keeping
member information secure, and using it only as our members would
want, is top priority for HEALTHCARE 1st Federal Credit Union and its
employees. We promise you:
1. We
will safeguard, according to strict security/confidentiality standards, any
information our members share with us.
2. We
will collect/use only the required member information to deliver superior
service. This required minimum allows us to advise members about our
products, services and other opportunities, and to administer our business.
3. We
do not, nor will we, reveal member information to any external organization
unless we have previously informed the member in disclosures or agreements,
have been authorized by the member, or are required by law.
4. Whenever
we hire support service organizations, we will require them to conform in
writing to our privacy standards.
5. We
will make a “good faith” attempt to keep member files complete, up-to-date,
and accurate. We will tell our members how and where to conveniently access
their account information (except when we're prohibited by law) and how to
notify us about errors which we will promptly correct.

We will continuously assess ourselves to
ensure that member privacy is respected.

What kinds of information we
collect:
When you apply for a new account or a loan: We ask you for information about
your financial status, such as employment, income, monthly expenses, e-mail
address (if any) and assets. In most cases you give us this information
yourself, in person or by mail. If we need to know about your credit and
repayment history, we use third-party sources such as consumer reporting
agencies and other creditors.
Once you become a customer:
We maintain your transactional information with HEALTHCARE 1st Federal Credit Union,
including account balances, repayment history, and other information.
How we use this information:
Most
information we collect is used for only one purpose: to aid in delivering
the services you’ve requested, easily and efficiently. It also may assist us
in designing and offering specific products and services that we believe
will be useful to you.
Categories of Information
that HEALTHCARE
1st Discloses About You:
We do not disclose any member/former member’s nonpublic personal information
to anyone, except as permitted by law. These disclosures typically include:
information to follow your authorized instructions, i.e., adding a joint
owner to your share draft account, to conduct Credit Union operations, or to
protect our financial records’ security. To protect our member’s privacy, we
only work with companies that agree to maintain strong confidentiality
protections and limit the use of information we provide. We do not permit
these companies to sell to other third parties the information we provide.
How HEALTHCARE
1st Protects Your
Information: We restrict
access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who
have a specific business purpose in utilizing your data. Our employees are
trained in the importance of maintaining confidentiality and member privacy.
We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with
federal regulations and leading industry practices to safeguard your
nonpublic personal information.

1st reserves the right to amend this disclosure at any time without prior
notice. This disclosure amends existing agreements that the Credit Union has
with you.

Marketing partners:
From time to time, we will carefully select business partners to provide our
members with specialized financial services such as debit/credit cards, share drafts, statement processing or insurance. Although these partners are
not owned by or affiliated with HEALTHCARE 1st Federal Credit
Union, they work closely
with us to help us meet all of your financial needs. If appropriate, we may
disclose to these core partners certain information such as:

Information we
receive from you on applications or other forms, such as your name, address,
Social Security number, assets, or income;

Information about your transactions with HEALTHCARE 1st Federal Credit Union, such as your account
balance or payment history;

Information
obtained from specialized marketing information forms, such as household
demographics; and

Information we
receive from consumer reporting agencies and others, such as your
creditworthiness and credit history.
Our partners must agree in writing to
strictly safeguard the confidentiality of customer information, and they are
not allowed to disclose this information to anyone else without our
permission.
Consumer reporting agencies:
In accordance with standard banking industry practice, and as allowed under
federal and state law, HEALTHCARE 1st Federal Credit Union routinely provides data
about customer loan repayment and other transactions to these agencies and
other creditors.
Courts and government
entities:
Certain federal and state statutes may require us to disclose information
about you. For example, if you are involved in a third-party litigation, we
may be ordered to provide a court or the other litigant information. In
these circumstances, only the specific information required by law,
subpoena, or court order will be disclosed.
Opt out of having
information disclosed:
Since we do not share our member/former members’ nonpublic personal
information, there is no opt out provision.
