Connie Powers, CEO/Manager of HEALTHCARE 1st Federal Credit Union, wants to invite all the member/owners to come in and welcome our new employees.  Debbie Devore, Anita Bower, and Bill Conner want to meet all the members and help them with their financial needs.  Anna Miller continues as the Senior Loan Officer and is happy to help you with any loans that you may need.

The Maryland and District of Columbia Credit Union Association hosted a Financial Reality Fair for Allegany County High School Juniors as part of a required personal financial literacy class.  Local credit unions Allegany County Teachers Credit Union, Chessie Credit Union, Potomac Credit Union, Healthcare 1st Credit Union, and Secu Credit Union provided volunteer services to develop the program format and work with the students at booths to give the students a glimpse of what life will be like when they are paying their own bills.  Prior to the fair held at the Allegany Fairgrounds, the students had chosen a career path and the MD-DC Credit Union Association provided real time figures as to their projected income and estimated expenses for such items as student loans.  The students went to booths where they had to make decisions about housing, food, clothing.  The nice-to-have extras such as cell phones, televisions, gym memberships, and vacations were also available and students had to decide if they had enough money for luxury items, do without or make a loan.  Comments were heard from the students that the fair has made them realize that they have to learn to live within their means.

The Credit Union Foundation of Maryland & the District of Columbia is awarding eleven (11) $1,000 Scholarships in Maryland.
